Martha Stewart Closet Organizer Review

I always like to get things organized when fall comes around and the kiddos are back in school.  So I decided to tackle some closet organizers.  I'm not sure if you have ever looked into closet organizers -  they are not cheap!  I ended up going with the Martha Stewart Closets line.  You can see the complete line here or you can check them out on Home Depot's website here.

Before - My Side.... Embarassing!

His side.... plus a little of mine!
I liked these closet organizers a lot, they are easy to install and I was able to do our entire twelve feet of walk-in closet for under $500.  If you choose to purchase these closet organizers I recommend choosing the white option to save yourself a bundle of money on the shelves.  Instead of buying a two pack of shelves for $35 from Martha Stewart closets, I opted to go to Home D and buy an 8ft white shelf for about $9,  then I had them cut down to the exact sizes I needed.  I easily ended up with 4 shelves per plank so you can save a lot by doing it this way.  You need to pick up some little shelf supports in the hardware section though.
Yay! I love my closet now!

Check out the basket at the bottom!

These baskets are super sturdy!  I put them in my kids rooms too!

I am very happy with this product, so much so that I put them in my kids closets too!

Thanks for stopping by!

You had me at Vintage.....

You all have probably seen the new 2012 Ikea catalogue by now - I don't know about you, but I get excited about it's arrival every year!  This year did not disappoint!

It is sheer brilliance on Ikea's part to bring bring back a classic wing back chair from 1951!  Some of you may associate wing-backs with Grandma's house, but in my opinion once your head is nestled into one of it's corners there is no better reading chair.

I'm a sucker for grey especially when it's warmed up with a cream cable knit throw.  A touch of vintage in a room gives a room character and a soul - this versatile chair could work in many of the rooms in my home.  Would this chair blend with your decorating style?

P.S. I am phasing out Peace Love Sweater, so please come and follow me at Van Breugel Design!

I'm looking forward to seeing you there!

I'm building a new home!

Since returning to school to study Interior Design, making sweater creations has become less and less of a priority.  The name "Peace Love Sweater" began to feel somewhat limiting - as a result I have built a more suitable home to show case what I do and share what I've been learning.

Thank you to those of you who have kindly followed this blog, I hope you'll come follow me to my new digs - Van Breugel Design!

These Boots Were Made For .....

If you are fortunate enough to own a great pair of boots - flaunt them!

Don't hide your boots in the closet - a great pair of boots could look great anywhere.

Here is where I park mine...

And every time I pass through this corner I smile.
I love the boots with this union jack pillow made from recycled wool sweaters.

Here are a few more yummy examples.....

And even if you don't own a great pair of boots
wouldn't a photo like this be adorable in a mud room??

I hope you see your boots in a whole new way!

Finally! Something to Blog About!

Yes, I have been an extremely absentee blogger for a while now, but hey, life just gets in the way sometimes!

But for today anyways, I am back!

I decided to try to make a few recycled wool items to listed on Etsy.
(I haven't ventured into Etsy yet, so I'd be extremely happy to have any advice that you'd like to share.)

Here are few little owl's I've been working on - which one is your favorite?

I've been working on some sweater pillows as well,
and even a few recycled wool blanket pillows, too.

More to follow......

Subway Inspired Words to Live By

Ever since the first time I saw subway art I have loved it -
I guess I'm a sucker for typography.
A while ago I discovered a great post by Ashley at lilblueboo
on her amazing take on Resolution Subway art.
She was kind enough to offer instructions as to how she made it
and even included the artwork to reproduce it.
She creates amazing things!

I fell in love with Ashley's version and loved the idea
of having such positive words displayed in my home.
I ran it past my husband and we decided it was near perfect for us.
We wanted to make a little change to it to suit our family better.
So my husband made up a pretty good version on our computer
and I brought the file to the local print shop.
They printed it on to canvas for me then I stretched that around an artist canvas.

It now proudly hangs in my kitchen for our family to read each end everyday.

Thank-you Ashley for sharing your words!
